Reiki FAQ
What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a gentle, hands-on energy healing practice that supports relaxation, balance, and the body’s natural healing processes. Originating in Japan in the early 20th century, Reiki works by channeling universal life energy through the hands of a trained practitioner to ignite your own inner healing energies. It's commonly used to reduce stress, ease emotional tension, and support physical well-being.

What is Reiki massage?
Technically, there’s no such thing as “Reiki massage” as a single modality. When people use this phrase, they usually mean that Reiki and massage are being offered together in one session. In practice, this might look like starting with massage and ending with Reiki, or weaving Reiki energy into the massage flow. It’s not a separate technique, but a blend of two complementary approaches.

How is Reiki different from massage?
Massage therapy works directly with muscles and soft tissue to relieve physical tension. Reiki, on the other hand, is an energy-based practice that involves little or no physical touch. It focuses on the body’s energy field and helps restore balance at an energetic level. Many clients describe Reiki as deeply calming—sometimes even more so than massage—because it works on mind, body and spirit as one.

Is Reiki religious?
No. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion. It is a spiritual energy healing practice, but it does not require any particular belief system. People from all walks of life—religious, spiritual, or secular—use Reiki to support healing, clarity, and well-being. The core principles of Reiki emphasize kindness, mindfulness, and living with greater harmony.

What should I do during a Reiki session?
Just relax. You’ll lie fully clothed on a massage table or rest in a comfortable chair. You don’t need to do or think anything special. Some people fall asleep, or they hover somewhere between sleep and wakefulness. Others feel warmth, tingling, or may sense images or colors. Every session is unique. You're always welcome to speak up or shift position if needed.

What can Reiki help with?
Reiki isn’t a medical treatment, but it can support your overall well-being and healing process. People often come to Reiki for:
-
Stress, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm
-
Burnout or low energy
-
Grief or life transitions
-
Sleep and rest support
-
Chronic tension or pain (alongside other care)
-
Feeling disconnected or depleted
-
A desire for more spiritual or intuitive connection

Do I need to be intuitive to learn Reiki?
Not at all. Reiki is a skill anyone can learn. It doesn’t require special gifts or psychic ability. What it does require is an open heart and a willingness to practice. Over time, many people find that their intuition and self-awareness naturally deepen—but it’s not a prerequisite.

You’ll also have the option to stay connected in our Inner Healing Circle, where you can continue exploring Reiki and other mind-body tools in a warm, supportive group.

Is Reiki safe?
Yes. Reiki is non-invasive, gentle, and safe to receive alongside other treatments or therapies. It won’t interfere with medication or medical care. It’s often used in hospitals and wellness settings to help patients relax, reduce stress, and feel more supported.
How many sessions do I need?
That depends on your goals. Some people benefit from a single session to reset and recharge. Others choose ongoing sessions to support emotional healing or life transitions. If you're new to Reiki and curious about how it might support you, I'm happy to help you create a plan that fits your needs—or again, invite you to join us in the Inner Healing Circle to explore further.
