Is Energy Work Safe?

“Your third chakra is broken.”

Yes, someone actually told one of my clients that. And no, I wouldn't say that to anyone. I’ve heard a lot over the years—clients arriving at my door confused, discouraged, or even afraid. They’ve been told their energy is stuck, blocked, closed, damaged… as if their body is a machine that broke down and is out of commission for good.

So let’s talk about that. Let's take a new look, maybe ease your mind, or offer a new take on stories you've heard from your friends about healing gone wrong. Energy moves and shifts constantly. The broken paradigm isn't really useful here.

Let’s talk about what real, grounded, effective healing really looks like, and why it can feel surprising—sometimes even uncomfortable—and still be perfectly safe, and worth doing anyway.

What Does Safety Mean in Healing?

When we step into a healing process—whether it’s a Reiki session, an EFT tapping practice, or a Trilogy session that blends multiple modalities—we’re not just chasing relaxation. We’re entering into relationship with our inner world: the places we hold tension, the patterns that have helped us survive, and the parts of ourselves we may not yet fully know.

For some people, that feels like peace. For others, it feels like a shift. And sometimes… it feels like a wave that catches you by surprise.

Does that mean something’s gone horribly wrong? Like a chakra has been broken?

Not from a mindbody or energy healing perspective.

Healing Isn’t Always Comfortable—But It Can Still Be Safe

We’ve been taught that discomfort is a red flag. That anything unfamiliar must be dangerous. But in the realm of energy work and nervous system healing, discomfort can also mean something is waking up.

It might feel like:

  • A surge of emotion you haven’t felt in years

  • Strange new body sensations (heat, buzzing, fatigue, even tears)

  • A sense of being “off,” not in a scary way, but in a way that says, Something inside me is moving

This is your system doing what it knows how to do: reorganize, release, and reset.

That doesn’t mean you should push past your limits. And it definitely doesn’t mean you shouldn’t seek professional mental health or medical support if you feel overwhelmed. In fact, I encourage it.

But I also encourage you to consider this:

If you're asking for healing—real, deep, mind-body healing—what’s happening might actually be part of the process.

Don’t Throw Out the Baby with the Bathwater

Many clients come to me because they want to feel better—emotionally, physically, energetically. And they often feel confused when something unfamiliar arises.

It’s tempting to revert back to the mindset many of us were raised in:

  • If something hurts, shut it down.

  • If something feels too emotional, push it away.

  • If the results aren’t instant, try something else.

But in energy healing, suppression is not the goal. Expression, integration, and gradual transformation are.

So if you find yourself crying after a session, needing more rest than usual, or becoming aware of something you didn’t notice before—don’t panic. That’s your system showing you something that’s ready to shift. Do you best to sit with it. Allow it to just be there. Stay aware of your reaction to it. Is it possible to choose a new reaction?

Healing at the Pace of Trust

In my Trilogy and Virtual Trilogy sessions, I use a combination of EFT Tapping, Reiki, gentle movement, and presence—not to push you toward catharsis, but to offer a space where your body can unwind at its own pace.

I don’t “diagnose” chakras. I don’t chase over-the-top cathartic breakthroughs. And I don’t ever pretend to be a mental health professional.

But I do believe in your system’s wisdom. I’ve seen again and again how people shift when they feel safe, witnessed, and respected.

That’s why I also offer:

  • Perfect Fit sessions for customized follow-up support

  • Flexible Fee sessions so you don’t have to choose between financial strain and your healing

  • The Inner Healing Circle for ongoing community and integration

Trust Yourself, Stay Curious

If you’re on a healing path, I trust that part of you already knows when it’s time to reach for something more. Sometimes that “more” won’t feel comfortable. Sometimes it will challenge your sense of what’s familiar. That doesn’t mean it’s unsafe. It might just mean you’re growing.
